Barney, the lovable purple dino-star adored by children throughout the world, now has his own permanent multimillion dollar attraction at Universal Studios Florida, the only place in the world where children can see Barney live every day of the year.
"A Day in the Park with Barney" brings to life Barney's make-believe preschool play world in a state-of-the-art interactive musical show and hands-on educational playground. Starring Barney, his best friend Baby Bop, and her big brother B J, the attraction celebrates youthful innocence in an atmosphere created specifically for toddlers and their families.
Taking a cue from Mother Nature, the attraction uses soothing colors, soft sounds and naturally themed designs to create a child-oriented, adult-friendly experience that skillfully blends the educational fun emphasis of the mega-successful Barney & Friends television program.
Entering the attraction, visitors find themselves in a beautifully landscaped park with lush grass and magnificent flowers and trees. At the center of the courtyard is a whimsical fountain featuring the dino-star surrounded by playful streams of water.
Of course the true centerpiece of the attraction is the Barney Theater where children and their families can experience the magic of the purple dinosaur and his friends firsthand.
In the pre-show area, guests are greeted by a brand new character, Mr. Peekaboo, a bumbling, forgetful but goodhearted fellow who introduces himself to the crowd through a lighthearted song written especially for the attraction. After the children repeatedly remind him whom they want to see, he urges them to use their imaginations, setting a series of special effects into motion.
Inside, the magical special effects continue as guests enter Barney's imaginary park. Intimately designed for a maximum of 350 people, the state-of-the-art theater-in-the-round brings Barney, Baby Bop and BJ closer to fans than ever before.
Children use their imagination to bring Barney to life, and he magically appears on center stage. All three dinosaurs treat their fans to a "clap-along, sing-along," showcasing some of Barney's best loved songs such as "Mr. Knickerbocker".
